Local musician Jericho Gawanab and events master of ceremonies NSK have been removed from the line-up of Childline/Lifeline Namibia’s 45th anniversary celebration over a dispute.
The two allegedly have an unresolved dispute between them, with NSK, real name Denzel //Naobeb, informing the organisers that he will not share the stage with Jericho.
Although the organisation initially only removed Jericho from the programme, they decided to remove both on Friday.
Jericho and NSK have not been reachable for comment on the matter.
In the initial letter sent to Jericho, the event’s organisers informed Jericho that NSK had raised concerns about appearing at the same event as the musician, citing “serious issues” between the two dating back to last year.
“Our MC, NSK, saw the event poster and informed us that there were serious issues between the two of you last year. He has made it clear that he cannot participate if you are performing,” the organisers say.
They say time constraints have prevented them from securing a replacement MC, leading to the decision to remove Jericho.
“Because we do not have time to secure another MC before the event, we are unfortunately unable to have you perform tomorrow. This was a difficult decision, and we regret having to inform you at such short notice,” the letter reads.
In a statement released on Friday, Childline/Lifeline Namibia said the organisation had chosen to step away from both parties to maintain neutrality.
In a second communication, the organisation decided to remove both parties.
“Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that the two parties are currently unable to work together due to a personal dispute that lies outside the scope of Lifeline/Childline’s operations,” the statement reads.
“This is an unfortunate and disappointing development for all involved, but in the spirit of fairness and integrity, we are not taking sides.”
The non-government organisation says it only became aware of the dispute at the last minute.
“We only became aware of the alleged dispute between the parties very late last night, Thursday 25 September 2025,” it says.
Childline/Lifeline, which provides counselling and psychosocial support services across Namibia, says it remains focused on celebrating its 45 years of service “with unity, professionalism, and positivity”.
Efforts to get comment from Jericho were unsuccessful.
Last year, NSK pulled a stunt at the Simply You Magazine Lifestyle Awards after he lost to his competitor, Donald Kariseb, in the category of best male radio presenter.
Speaking during the awards ceremony, NSK said he felt robbed as Kariseb won an award to which he (NSK) was entitled.
“Deep down you know you are not better than me and deep down in your heart you look up to me, bro . . . so how is it possible that you are telling me l am losing an award to him?” NSK asked, adding that Kariseb did not deserve to win the award.
