The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Namibia was launched at Hilton Hotel in Windhoek on Thursday, 25 September 2014. The Kalabar was packed with youth who came to witness the official launch.
JCI Namibia is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs. It operates under the main aim of acting as a definite positive factor in the advancement of the Namibian society through providing opportunities for young active citizens. They want to develop their personal qualities, management skills and national consciousness which is necessary to make the country a prominent member of the world community.
Youth empowerment continues to be a concern to the nation so concerned citizens come up with alternatives each year on how they can empower the youth in Namibia.
“I’m encouraging all young people to join JCI Namibia and invite others to join as well,” executive chairperson Mandela Kapere said during the launch. “JCI Namibia will become what you want it to be,” he added.
As per the objectives of the organisation, the main purpose of launching JCI Namibia is to represent general economic interests of young entrepreneurs and business executives in all sectors of the economy in Namibia. To add, the organisation plans to contribute and influence decision making high levels, facilitate access to resources and skills and make new opportunities for business available to young entrepreneurs. It is all about developing the leadership skills amongst young men and women in Namibia.
JCI Namibia is an affiliate organisation to the National Youth Council and they have been hosted by Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) as a sister organisation. They create platforms for the youth to actively engage with government on policy and law development and allow them to participate in community development programs.
