Itula expects greater IPC representation in regional council, local authority structures

Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) leader Panduleni Itula has expressed confidence that his party will secure increased representation in both local authority and regional council structures once the election results are finalised.

On Wednesday, Itula said the IPC’s nationwide participation positions the party to potentially obtain seats across several constituencies and towns.

“We contested in all 59 local authorities and in the majority of regional council constituencies. Based on that level of participation, we expect to secure representation in various parts of the country,” he said.

Itula noted that the party’s projection is informed by internal assessments and the performance of IPC candidates over recent years. He added that outcomes may differ across regions, but said the party anticipates a presence in several councils where competition is expected to be tight.

“Ultimately, the results will reflect the will of the electorate,” he said.

He stressed that effective governance at local and regional levels depends on the capacity of elected leaders to deliver services, regardless of political affiliation.

“What is important is that those elected are able to meet the needs of their communities.”

He said where coalitions emerge, collaboration among parties will be necessary to ensure continuity in service delivery.

Final election results for the regional council and local authority elections will be announced by the Electoral Commission of Namibia later on Thursday, once all counting processes have been completed.
