I AM a member of the Swapo party like most of my fellow community members.
I am just wondering what we have done wrong to the party we have supported in every election. It will be very unfair for the head of state to appoint any one of the mentioned candidates for the governorship of the Caprivi region. At the beginning of this presidential term, he appointed two Mafwe speaking-people to ministerial positions and an equal number of ministers from the Masubiya community. Now he is about to appoint another Mafwe to be the Governor of the region. We are betrayed by this appointment as Mayeyi community and staunch supporters of the party. It was wrong for our chief to rally his people to support the candidate of the ruling party to reverse the earlier threat to boycott the polls. How long will we be taken for a ride just to be used as block of unwavering voters but overlooked for presidential appointments? It is time President Pohamba appoints a Mayeyi speaking person to be the governor of the region having overlooked us for all his appointments in the past. Mafwe and Masubiya had held the governorship of the region in the past and it should be our time now. Either the president is ignorant of the political situation or dynamics in the region or Dr Kawana is not advising him well. Next elections we will not vote and we will stand our ground.
