THROUGH your newspaper allow me to congratulate Comrade Hifikepunye Pohamba on his victory and also congratulate the two Comrades Angula and Hamutenya for taking part in the race of successor to the President of the Republic of Namibia.
After the Swapo Extraordinary Congress there has been talk here and there have about alleged ‘division in Swapo’. As a Swapo member, I sincerely thank Ms. Eunice Ipinge who calmed our hearts with courteous words that the information was not based on fact.Recently, Erkki Nghimtina was interviewed by NBC Oshiwambo radio and he highlighted all the important activities undertaken by the Ministry of Defence including the wellbeing of the Namibian contingent in Liberia.I was very disappointed by two items, namely:First, he reassured the nation to sleep tight because there is a second Sam Nujoma in power (oshiwana nashi kofe tashimbonyoka, shaashi koshipundi okwaya Sam Nujoma omutivali). What does he mean by Sam Nujoma? I thought Pohamba is an independent person, a successor to the President, but not a 2nd Nujoma; and second, his congratulatory message, not the one to Hifikepunye Pohamba, but one which specifically goes to Nahas Angula, as he puts it in Oshiwambo (Ohatupandula okamatyona ko kOnyaana, nohatukape omukumo kutya ina ka sholola, koo okaana natango efimbo lako talifiki shito).Meaning that they congratulate the small boy from Onyaana, and they want to encourage him that he should not downhearted, he is still young and his time will come. What about the other candidate who is also a fellow Swapo Member of Parliament and Politburo? Is that not circumlocutory division? People! We are all Swapo members and Swapo is here to stay forever, so let’s unite as one, fight for economic development, and build up the country. In order to compete in the international arena we should talk our language.Ndeshihafela Ruben WindhoekAs a Swapo member, I sincerely thank Ms.
