Interpol joins hunt for Uganda’s LRA rebels

KAMPALA – World police body Interpol has issued arrest warrants for five leaders of Uganda’s Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), stepping up pressure on the notoriously brutal rebel movement despite its recent call for peace talks.

The Interpol “Red Notices” were intended to back up warrants for the capture of LRA leader Joseph Kony and his top commanders issued last year by the International Criminal Court (ICC). “These individuals are wanted for trial at the International Criminal Court for multiple counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes including murder, abduction, sexual crimes, rape and child conscription,” Interpol said in a statement this week. The “Red Notices” named Joseph Kony, Vincent Otti, Okot Odhiambo, Raska Lukwiya and Dominic Ongwen.- Nampa-Reuters”These individuals are wanted for trial at the International Criminal Court for multiple counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes including murder, abduction, sexual crimes, rape and child conscription,” Interpol said in a statement this week. The “Red Notices” named Joseph Kony, Vincent Otti, Okot Odhiambo, Raska Lukwiya and Dominic Ongwen. – Nampa-Reuters
