Inmate (62) takes own life

Inmate Alexander Krylov (62), a Russian national, took his own life at the Windhoek Correctional Facility on Friday.

According to the police crime report, Krylov’s remains were discovered in the shower by other inmates.

“The deceased was allegedly serving 35 years and 12 months on three counts of offences including rape, trafficking in persons and dealing in drugs,” noted the police report.

There was no suicide note discovered at the time of reporting, and no foul play is suspected.

The next of kin were informed. Police investigations continue.
In a separate incident, Simeon Kashona Shanyenge (41) died by suicide at Elondo west village in the Onesi constituency on Saturday.

No suicide note was left behind and no foul play suspected.
Shanyenge’s next of kin have been informed.
