TWICE a week about 13 children from the Okahandja Park informal settlement are transported to the Children’s Hope Initiative Project (CHP) in town where they receive informal education.
These children have either never been to school or have dropped out of school mainly because their parents are unable to pay their fees or buy uniforms and books. Through funding from the Hand in Hand for Children organisation, the CHP will build a school at Okahandja Park with the aim of integrating the children back into the formal school system. In the meantime the children get taught some subjects in the garage and on the patio of the CHP offices. They also receive two meals a day.Soon a further 15 children from the Hakahana informal settlement will also receive informal schooling.Through funding from the Hand in Hand for Children organisation, the CHP will build a school at Okahandja Park with the aim of integrating the children back into the formal school system. In the meantime the children get taught some subjects in the garage and on the patio of the CHP offices. They also receive two meals a day.Soon a further 15 children from the Hakahana informal settlement will also receive informal schooling.
