Infighting Spills Over From Karas To Hardap Region’s

KINDLY allow me some space in your popular newspaper to air my views on the letter by True Marientaller, which appeared last week in Die Republikein.

I was saddened to read that infighting in the Karas Region is also now boiling over in the Hardap Region. Without stating proper facts, True Marientaller made reference to people’s names, all of them from the same tribal group in the Hardap Region. And I want to make certain comments based on the letter by True Marientaller.First of all, he/she is a coward to mention other people’s names in the newsprint without mentioning his/her own name.If I were an editor, I would have made it a prerequisite of my newspaper that cowards should not be allowed to pull other people’s names through the mud without revealing their own identity. It is my conviction that True Marientaller is not per se targeting the people he/she mentions, but is, as a matter of fact, targeting the Governor of the Hardap Region. There is an ongoing conspiracy by forces that may against the Governor of the Hardap Region and the writer should just come clean and open.Would True Mariental be happy if the posts he referred to are given to people from other tribes and regions? Or when the Governor is replaced by a non-Mariental person? True Marientaller must take heed that ours is a united Republic, and that any Namibian from anywhere can apply, given he/she meets the requirements of advertised vacancies. The current Acting CEO of the Hardap Regional Council is not from Mariental, but the writer sounds as if the two employees (of which one originates from my Region) on suspension by the Hardap Regional Council on the basis of their origin and skin colour. That is, however, not the case because we read in the media that charges have been formulated against them.We are trying to build a new nation, based on the policy of national reconciliation but because of the recurrence of such attempts aimed to tarnish the image of the Governor of the Hardap Region it remains far-fetched.Let True Marientaller provide us with his/her name and also let the public know whether he/she or his/her relatives applied for civil service posts or even competed for political office and failed.Hannes Karools, KeetmanshoopWithout stating proper facts, True Marientaller made reference to people’s names, all of them from the same tribal group in the Hardap Region.
