Deputy minister of defence and veterans affairs Charles Mubita has inaugurated an Indian-funded advanced network laboratory at Osona military base to enhance information technology training within the Namibian Defence Force.
Mubita officially opened the facility in the presence of senior government officials and India’s high commissioner, Rahul Shrivastava.
“About 80 NDF personnel travel to India annually for specialised courses,” Shrivastava said at the event.
He said the ongoing training forms part of a cooperation agreement between the two countries.
The laboratory will be equipped with modern IT infrastructure, including computers, smart boards and projectors.
Classrooms were also upgraded to enhance the learning environment.
Mubita said the project “represents an investment in both equipment and personnel within the defence force”.
