After a seven year hiatus, the Miss Rehoboth pageant is back, promising to be bigger than before. The pageant was last held in 2007 and like many beauty pageants, was a highly anticipated event on the Rehoboth social calender.
It is a great attraction at the town, bringing the community together in celebration of young women who wish to contribute to great changes in their communities.
“I am hoping to reach out to our young ladies and aid motivating them and believing in themselves. The aim is to change the way in which the pageant is being seen and change young ladies’ perceptions of life,” says Toni Blom, who has taken over the reigns as pageant organiser.
Blom says that the event is meant as a platform to open doors for the entrants, helping them to become models, brand ambassadors or promoters. She is adamant that the event does not become ‘just another pageant’.
The pageant will hopefully gain momentum once again and be held on an annual basis. Besides the promise of bringing the community together, Blom adds that it will hopefully garner attention for the vast talent in the southern town.
“Rehoboth has an amazing amount of undiscovered talent and potential in our youth, and with this we hope to develop the community and give back to the society. The young girls are our mothers of tomorrow and it starts with them being informed and educated as well,” says Blom.
