* Zuma’s arms case ruling todayJudge Phillip Levensohn will today hand down his decision over whether he will authorise a letter requesting authorities in Mauritius to hand over documentation pertaining to alleged meetings between ANC deputy president Jacob Zuma, convicted businessman Schabir Shaik and French arms manufacturer Thint.

The documents, about Zuma’s role in the arms deal, include the 2000 diary of Alain Thetard, former chief executive of Thales International’s South African subsidiary Thint (Pty) Ltd. Levensohn’s decision will be handed down in the Durban High Court.-Nampa-Sapa * ‘He has handed himself over’ JOHANNESBURG – A 31-year-old man is being questioned in connection with the murders of a 60-year-old woman and five girls found dead in a house at Zwide Township, Port Elizabeth, police said.Captain Ernest Sigobe said the man handed himself to police on Friday night and is being held at the KwaZakhele police station.He had not admitted to the murders, Sigobe said.”He’s handed himself for questioning and we are investigating that he is a possible suspect.We’re working around the clock to ensure we do a proper investigation.”Forensic tests, including DNA, would be done, he said.The elderly woman was found in her bedroom and the children, aged between five and eight, were found stacked on top of each other in a bathtub full of water on March 25.Sigobe said a man in his 50s, who is the father of three of the five girls, made the discovery around 22:00.The three girls were the woman’s granddaughters and the other two were from the neighbourhood.The elderly woman, who was baby-sitting the children, had visible injuries on her head and police believed that she was strangled.Police were not sure about the children’s exact cause of death.There were signs that the door was forcefully opened.Nothing was missing from the house.* Cop killed during anti-crime op JOHANNESBURG – A police captain died during an inner-city Johannesburg anti-crime operation after he was knocked over by a driver who was allegedly drunk, police said on Sunday.Spokesperson Captain Bheki Mavundla said the captain was hit by a Toyota Corolla while crossing a road in Mondeor at 11:30 on Saturday.The captain was returning from a roadblock to a SA National Defence Force helicopter that was providing air support to an anti-crime initiative, Operation Trio.He was based at the provincial crime combating unit and believed to be 50 years old.Mavundla said the 40-year-old driver was arrested less than a kilometre from the accident after he ran away, leaving his car behind.The driver will appear in court on charges of culpable homicide and drunken driving in Johannesburg on Monday.Mavundla said 114 people were arrested in Operation Trio which involved the inner-city police stations of Hillbrow, Johannesburg Central, Booysens and Jeppe.The operation focused on serious crimes such as hijacking hotspots, business and house robberies, and the tracing of wanted suspects and would continue, he said.”The main objective is to bring the levels of crime down,” said
