‘I’M BACK!’

Johnathan Beukes

Veteran journalist Johnathan Beukes has been appointed as editor of The Namibian from 16 March.

Beukes will be the paper’s third editor since its inception in 1985.

“I’m excited to return and help transform the organisation at a time when trust in the media globally is at a low, and newsrooms struggle to stay open,” he said yesterday.

Beukes has worked in various Namibian newsrooms and the corporate sector for over 20 years, including at The Namibian.

Namibia Media Trust Group interim chief executive Wolfram Jauss says Beukes’ appointment comes at a time that the local media environment is adapting to global changes.

“Johnathan is not new to The Namibian.

He brings a wealth of experience, and we are looking forward to his leadership and the contribution he will make to the Namibian media space,” he says.
