The kitchen of the Iipumbu Senior Secondary School in the Oshana region was gutted by a fire on Thursday night.

The fire destroyed all electrical pots used for the preparation of pupils’ food.

According to Oshana regional education director Pauline Shapumba, the school is getting help with meals from Oshakati Senior Secondary School.

Work is currently underway for the connection of three unused electrical pots and one gas stove, all picked up from another school, Shapumba says.

Education, arts and culture executive director Sanet Steenkamp says the incident has been reported to her office.

“We will determine how best to assist with the renovation.”

“The works department is already at the school, busy with the needs assessment of the damage, and the bill of quantities will follow soon, along with a report on procurement of services for the renovation,” she says.
