Iindji was an asset to the nation

Renowned and celebrated banker Thomas Koneka Iindji was laid to rest at his home village of Ombuga Yamunyoko in the Omusati region on Saturday.

Iindji died on 23 April after a short illness.

In her message of condolence, Namibia’s vice president, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, described the passing of Iindji as a great loss to the country.

“Death has robbed Namibia, and Swapo has lost a trusted leader who was a pillar of strength to everyone. We will miss his love and passion for the development of this country,” said Ndaitwah.

Iindji’s mother, Helena Itamalo, said her late son united people from different regions and countries.

“Koneka united us all, and he connected me to different people from all walks of life. I got to travel far and wide through my boy,” she said.
