AS Big Brother Africa All Stars kicks off this Sunday on DStv’s channel 198, Idols judges over at DStv channel 199 will be scouting and hunting for South Africa’s next big singing sensation.
Yes folks, the sixth season of Idols arrives on your TV screens on M-Net at 17h30 on Sunday. The season for those squeaky vs smooth voices is upon us as thousands of South African hopefuls take a shot at fame of being the next Brenda Mabrrrrrr… Fassie or Yvonne Chaka Chaka. To make things more interesting, the stakes are higher this year – for the first time, the winner stands to receive R500 000 in cash courtesy of M-Net and Ford SA on top of a recording contract from Sony Music and a brand new Ford Figo. Adding to the spice is that Idols’ usually fierce and not easily impressed judges, Mara Louw, Randall Abrahams and Gareth Cliff, will be joined by celebrity guest judges in each auditioning city in the form of Kahn from The Parlotones, HHP, Loyiso Bala, Zolani from Freshly Ground and Steve Hofmeyr. Also, hip hop star and Survivor South Africa contestant ProVerb will co-host the show with Liezel van der Westhuizen, while the Idols team will also travel to cities that didn’t get a look-in during previous seasons. Apart from the 90-minute audition episodes, DStv viewers can enjoy all the auditions as well as some exclusive material on channel 199, the dedicated 24/7 Idols Extra channel, which will launch directly after the first show on Sunday.
