TEMPERATURES will stabilise over the whole of Namibia by tomorrow, according to Simon Dirkse at the Windhoek bureau.

On Saturday afternoon a frontal system crossed over the southern part of the country, followed by cold air and cold southerly winds resulting in a drop in temperatures. By yesterday, temperatures had already increased by five degrees in the south and by tomorrow they will be back to normal.Dirkse said people needed to keep in mind that the country was still in the transition period from winter to summer and that the cold snap was normal for this time of year.”People expect it to be summer and warm the moment the time changes from winter to summer time, but the weather has its own pace at which it changes,” he said.German-speaking Namibians call the few cold days in September the ‘Drei Eisheiligen’ (three ice saints).Every year, just after people have packed away their winter clothes, a few cold days are experienced.According to popular belief, this is the official end of winter.By yesterday, temperatures had already increased by five degrees in the south and by tomorrow they will be back to normal.Dirkse said people needed to keep in mind that the country was still in the transition period from winter to summer and that the cold snap was normal for this time of year.”People expect it to be summer and warm the moment the time changes from winter to summer time, but the weather has its own pace at which it changes,” he said.German-speaking Namibians call the few cold days in September the ‘Drei Eisheiligen’ (three ice saints).Every year, just after people have packed away their winter clothes, a few cold days are experienced.According to popular belief, this is the official end of winter.
