TSUMEB mayor Matheus Hangula says the town council will pronounce itself tomorrow the successful candidate for the chief executive officer’s position.
The town has been without a CEO since the departure of Alfeus Benjamin two years ago to take up a post at the coastal town of Swakopmund.
Last year the town council offered the position to director for planning and rural development at Oshikoto Regional Council Victoria Kapenda but she declined the offer because it reportedly fell short of what she was earning.
“Council shortlisted four candidates and the interview process was concluded last month.
We will pronounce ourselves on Thursday on the successful candidate but the minister (urban and rural development) has to finalise the process.
Council sources said former Erongo governor Cleophas Mutjavikua is one of the four candidates for the position.
Mutjavikua retired from politics and is residing at his farm near the copper mining town. He did not respond to queries at the time of going to print. Former Namibian Institute of Pathology chief business strategy and development officer, Jennifer Kauapirura and Usakos CEO Ivan Lombard were also shortlisted for the position.
understands Lombard is tipped to take the position.
