The Namibia Medical Society (NMS) has announced that the Health Professions Councils of Namibia (HPCNA) has extended the licensing deadline for healthcare practitioners to 31 March 2027.
The announcement follows a written proposal submitted to the minister of health and HPCNA on 5 March, and a subsequent online engagement held on 11 March, which was attended by more than 450 healthcare workers.
In a members update, the NMS says all practitioners will be deemed licensed during this period.
The society says the extension provides more time for proper compliance, protects practitioners’ ability to practise and confirms that their concerns have been heard.
The NMS expresses appreciation to the minister of health and HPCNA for responding to its proposal.
It also thanks members who have been dutiful in paying and applying on time.
The society has urged members who have not yet applied for their licences to take advantage of the extension and secure their licences before 2027.
