Housekeeping Excellence Recognised at The Weinberg

CERTIFIED … Sofia Nakanyala (left) and Bernadine Sem proudly display their level 3 national vocational certificates in hospitality and tourism (housekeeping operations), earned through the Namibia Training Authority’s recognition of prior learning pathway at The Weinberg Windhoek.

The Weinberg Windhoek has marked yet another proud milestone as two of its housekeeping professionals, Sofia Nakanyala and Bernadine Sem, have successfully attained level 3 qualifications in hospitality and tourism (housekeeping operations) through the Namibia Training Authority.

The qualifications were awarded through the recognition of prior learning (RPL) pathway, a nationally recognised process that formally acknowledges skills and competencies gained through years of practical, on-the-job experience.

Rather than traditional classroom-based training, the RPL approach evaluates workplace knowledge, professional conduct and hands-on expertise, translating proven experience into an accredited qualification.

For Nakanyala and Sem, the achievement affirms the high standards they consistently uphold in their daily roles, where attention to detail, professionalism and service excellence are central to the guest experience. Their success also highlights the critical role housekeeping employees play in Namibia’s hospitality and tourism sector, often working behind the scenes to maintain world-class service standards.

Commenting on the achievement, Nakanyala says she is proud to have her experience formally recognised.

“This qualification means a lot to me. It shows that the work and effort we put in every day is valued, and it motivates me to continue growing in my career,” she says.

Sem echoes these sentiments, describing the qualification as an important personal and professional milestone. “I am grateful for the opportunity to turn my experience into a recognised qualification. It has given me confidence and encourages me to keep improving my skills,” she says.

The accomplishment reflects Gondwana Collection Namibia’s broader commitment to continuous learning, skills development and employee empowerment across all departments.

By supporting alternative training pathways such as RPL, the group contributes to professional growth while strengthening service quality within the industry.
