A burglary suspect was fatally shot by the Windhoek City Police after allegedly opening fire at the police in Khomasdal in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The incident took place at about 03h10, when members of the Windhoek City Police attended to a reported robbery in Madawas Street, Khomasdal, the Namibian Police reported on Sunday.
Two male suspects were allegedly found breaking the gate to a house and began shooting at the police officers, following a warning.
The police shot back at the suspects, and one suspect was shot.
The injured suspect was later declared dead by a paramedic.
The other suspect has not yet been apprehended.
A police investigation of the incident is continuing.
