THE fraud trial of Susanne Hoff, a Windhoek businesswoman who allegedly defrauded a friend’s former husband, is expected to take place in June.
The friend, Ludmilla von Korff, the first accused in the matter, has been on the run from the Police since late last year.
Hoff (51), also charged with allegedly conspiring to kill her husband, Egbert, yesterday heard that the case – involving less than N$2 000 – has been postponed to June 20 for plea and trial.Hoff was released on bail on both charges last week after spending more than four months in Police custody. An appeal against a failed bail application on the conspiracy charge in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court late last year, succeeded before Judge Nate Ndauendapo on Thursday.Judge Ndauendapo granted bail of N$50 000.The judge ordered Hoff to hand in all travel documents to the investigating officer and she is not allowed to apply for any others while the case is pending.She must report to the Windhoek Police station twice daily, may not interfere with any State witnesses, including her husband, and may not leave the district of Windhoek without the investigating officer’s permission.On Thursday afternoon, Magistrate Vanessa Stanley also granted Hoff bail in the fraud case in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court. To be released on this charge, she had to pay N$1 500.Hoff’s conspiracy to commit murder case was recently postponed until June 4 for further Police investigation.
