‘Hitman’ to fight at Oranjemund

ONE of Namibia most successful professional boxers, Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses, will step into the ring with Anthony Tshehla of South Africa at Oranjemund on February 10, trainer Nestor Tobias announced yesterday.

The Namibian World Boxing Association (WBA) and Pan African lightweight champion will not defend his title, but will go for a ten-rounder as part of an international boxing contest organised by the Nestor Sunshine Tobias Boxing and Fitness Academy. The fight is part of a drive for the boxer to gain more experience by exchanging blows as many times as he can before he vies for the world title. At a briefing yesterday, Moses, who holds two belts and an undefeated record of 18 straight fights, announced that 2007 will be the year to claim a world title.Another big fight on the night will see Jason ‘Taks’ Naule who will take on Zimbabwe’s Wellington Phiri in an eight-round bout which is expected to produce fireworks.Naule has to win the fight to challenge for a title fight in his next bout.Naule, who has been undefeated in his past nine fights, will take on a more experienced customer who has already fought 14 fights, only dropping five and winning the rest.Tobias, who has both boxers in his stable, said they were ready to take on their challengers. There will also be several other undercard fights, with South African boxers trading blows against the Namibians.Namdeb is sponsoring the boxing bonanza to the tune of N$200 000.The fight is part of a drive for the boxer to gain more experience by exchanging blows as many times as he can before he vies for the world title. There will also be several other undercard fights, with South African boxers trading blows against the Namibians.Namdeb is sponsoring the boxing bonanza to the tune of N$200 000.
