Swapo vice president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says history would condemn party members and supporters if they were to lose the Omusati region to an opposition party.
Speaking at a Swapo rally at Outapi in the Omusati region on Sunday, Nandi-Ndaitwah said Omusati is the birthplace of Swapo’s first president, Sam Nujoma, and the location where the armed struggle was launched 57 years ago.
According to Nandi-Ndaitwah, the region is Swapo’s home and stronghold.
“History will condemn us if we allow Omusati to be taken by our political opponents,” she said, urging Swapo members and supporters to avoid that “mistake.”
She also announced that 121 Swapo district coordinators would receive radios to access information and news from both the country and around the world.
