Two young boys survived a hippo attack while in a canoe at Kasivi village in the Kavango West region on Monday.

“One of the victims sustained a serious broken leg injury while the youngest escaped unharmed,” Kavango West regional chief inspector Raimberth Muronga confirmed.

The boys have been identified as Markus Amutenya (16) and Paulus Haingura (13).

“Both were rescued by the police and rushed to Bunya Clinic where the one that is seriously injured was transferred to Rundu State Hospital,” he said.
