Hindjou in Malaysia to attend trials

WINDHOEK – Former Brave Warriors midfield dynamo Johannes ‘Congo’ Hindjou is in Malaysia to attend trials with a club in Kuala Lumpur.

Hindjou, who departed last week, did not get his contract with the Namibia Premier League (NPL) champions Civics renewed for the 2006/07 football season. Civics’ administrative secretary, Tim Isaacks, yesterday confirmed Hindjou’s departure to Malaysia but did not know the name of the club that Hindjou is trying out for.”Hindjou called to tell me that all looks positive and that a contract is forthcoming, probably this week,” said Isaacks.According to Isaacks, Hindjou, who will be 27 years old in November, will only be able to sign a one- or two-season contract because of his age.”I am happy that he is on the verge of realising his ultimate goal that of playing overseas,” said Isaacks.Hindjou had a short stint with South African Professional Soccer League (PSL) outfit Black Leopards but joined Khomasdal-based team Civics for a fee of N$75 000.He also had trials with Supersport United and was offered a contract with Wits University but failed to agree on the pay package.Hindjou is one of the most capped players in Namibia and also played for former premiership side Liverpool, with which he first won his league honours in 2002.NampaCivics’ administrative secretary, Tim Isaacks, yesterday confirmed Hindjou’s departure to Malaysia but did not know the name of the club that Hindjou is trying out for.”Hindjou called to tell me that all looks positive and that a contract is forthcoming, probably this week,” said Isaacks.According to Isaacks, Hindjou, who will be 27 years old in November, will only be able to sign a one- or two-season contract because of his age.”I am happy that he is on the verge of realising his ultimate goal that of playing overseas,” said Isaacks.Hindjou had a short stint with South African Professional Soccer League (PSL) outfit Black Leopards but joined Khomasdal-based team Civics for a fee of N$75 000.He also had trials with Supersport United and was offered a contract with Wits University but failed to agree on the pay package.Hindjou is one of the most capped players in Namibia and also played for former premiership side Liverpool, with which he first won his league honours in 2002.Nampa
