Helao Nafidi revises budget

The Helao Nafidi Town Council has revised its annual budget from N$79,1 million to N$80,1 million for the 2024/2025 financial year to fully cater for planned capital projects.

The council made its resubmission after the Ministry of Urban and Rural Development allocated N$995 000 for a sewer reticulation system at Ohangwena proper.

The ministry requested that the council revise its budget accordingly and make a resubmission for the 2024/2025 financial year, alongside the council’s approval of the budget and bank statements of all bank accounts, for ministerial consideration and approval before 26 July.

According to the town’s mayor, Darius Shaalukeni, the council should fully account for the disbursed amount of N$998 000 and is required to submit an accountability report.

“This report is in addition to the submission of the quarterly accountability report, which must reach the ministry on or before the 15th of each month following the end of the quarter, as per the circular from the urban ministry dated 27 May 2021,” he said.

Shaalukeni noted that the addition of N$998 000 to the submitted budget of N$79,1 million will increase the total budget to N$80,1 million, hence the amendment of the council resolution is needed.
