I AM a very worried resident of Windhoek, and I believe other Namibians are worried too.
It was a very disturbing and frightening discovery made recently of this gruesome murder. So far, no arrest has been made regarding the Juanitha Mabula murder, as well the murder of another young girl strangled to death. The thought that a serial killer is free out there worries me because I wonder who his next victim will be.Since this killer feels he can outwit the Namibian Police, he might choose another victim. The Mabula case is been quiet over a year now.So the question is: “what should we do”? Must we be kept hostage in our own country or be kept captive by this lunatic? I am not ungrateful for what our Namibian Police do, I appreciate their efforts and achievements through the years, but I have a great concern too. When it comes to these events, we sympathise instantly when the news is fresh, but after the burial everything is quiet again.Who knows whose daughter, mother or wife will be next, remember no one is immune against such violence so please fellow Namibians, and especially our Inspector General, Commanders, President, Government, Namibian Police, I don’t underestimate the Police, but think they might need some extra assistance and together I think they might go the extra mile to solve these violent murders. My suggestion is to please call back the old serious crime unit established in 1996.This is not to employ them permanently but on a contract basis, just to assist in the solving of these mysterious, scary murders.I think some of the members of 1996 serious crime are still in the Namibian Police force, but others have resigned, and they were under the command of Inspector Neels Becker, Stuurman, Booysen and so many more. This is to assist the Inspector General of the Namibian Police, so please don’t feel undermined or feel that I want to decide for you, but this is the plea from the mothers of this country. If I can remember the last time they brought in a serial killer analyst, there was someone from South Africa, but without any success. This was a waste of time, money and resources, to hire experts from another country while we have our own experts locally who have solved so many murders and robberies in the past. So, Mr Inspector General, the President and Government, please consider my suggestion. This request is not for me personally but I think my idea might be valuable and supported by the Namibian nation on the grassroots level – please hear our plea.Franzina Jagger WindhoekSo far, no arrest has been made regarding the Juanitha Mabula murder, as well the murder of another young girl strangled to death. The thought that a serial killer is free out there worries me because I wonder who his next victim will be.Since this killer feels he can outwit the Namibian Police, he might choose another victim. The Mabula case is been quiet over a year now.So the question is: “what should we do”?
