Hardap’s top cop replaced

FORMER Regional Police Commander Bollen Sankwasa made a second appearance in the Mariental Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

Sankwasa was charged with theft on May 24. He is suspected of stealing petrol from the Mariental Police station.The case was postponed for a second time in order for the Police investigation to continue.Sankwasa was still the Regional Commander for Hardap at the time the charges were brought against him.Because of Sankwasa’s high rank, the charges against him are apparently being investigated by the Police’s Complaints and Discipline Unit in Windhoek.He remains free on bail, and has been suspended from duty.He has been replaced as Regional Commander by Chief Inspector Kobus Meyer, who is said to have joined the Hardap branch from the Oshana Region.He is suspected of stealing petrol from the Mariental Police station.The case was postponed for a second time in order for the Police investigation to continue.Sankwasa was still the Regional Commander for Hardap at the time the charges were brought against him.
