The Hardap Regional Netball Association (Harna) is under an interim executive following the removal from office of the old leadership for reported “constitutional non-compliance”.

The new committee was appointed on Wednesday, 27 February, a day after their predecessors were expelled “in terms of the Netball Namibia constitution”.

Brenda Basson chairs the interim structure, supported by additional members Pakela Christiaans, Claudia /Narimas and Patrick Saal. Public relations officer Rhonie //Garoëb completes the new set-up.

The committee is compelled to report to the Netball Namibia secretary general through its chairperson on a weekly basis. Additionally, a comprehensive report should be submitted with the mother body upon the completion of its term, outlining all activities undertaken and the state of the Harna.

“The committee shall be responsible for the overall management of netball affairs within the Hardap region during its designated period. This interim committee shall function until a substantive regional executive committee has been elected at the Harna regional annual general meeting,” a statement from Harna said.

Their immediate concern is to ensure that today’s under-19 regional team trials at Mariental to select the representatives for the upcoming Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup runs smoothly.

The trials start at 14h00.
