Gurirab addresses war veterans on BEE

PRIME Minister Theo-Ben Gurirab on Saturday said Government wants to use the black economic empowerment (BEE) initiative to ensure the equitable distribution of wealth and the improvement of the standard of living of the Namibian people.

Speaking during the official launch of the Robben Island Veterans Trust Fund, through the Tonateni Community Care, Gurirab said: “I regard these efforts as part of all the other efforts to bring the previously disadvantaged Namibians into the mainstream of the economy and to participate meaningfully in the economic activities of the country.” He expressed satisfaction by the objectives of the Tonateni Community Care, to raise funds on behalf of former Robben Island prisoners, create awareness about the plight of former Robben Island prisoners, provide emotional, material and financial support to the Robben Island Veterans and to improve the quality of life of those veterans who require the government’s support.These and other initiatives are all noble and truly commendable that Namibians have to support as business people, government, civil society and as individuals, he said.The PM told the veterans that the Government would pursue the struggle for economic emancipation.-NampaHe expressed satisfaction by the objectives of the Tonateni Community Care, to raise funds on behalf of former Robben Island prisoners, create awareness about the plight of former Robben Island prisoners, provide emotional, material and financial support to the Robben Island Veterans and to improve the quality of life of those veterans who require the government’s support.These and other initiatives are all noble and truly commendable that Namibians have to support as business people, government, civil society and as individuals, he said.The PM told the veterans that the Government would pursue the struggle for economic emancipation.-Nampa
