IF you permit me I would like to send a message to all those Namibians who have understanding or sympathy for people who are directly and consciously involved in mismanagement of public funds.
First, they should come to their senses and start to act in a mature manner as responsible citizen of this country. Secondly, they must realise that any form of corruption or money laundering is a criminal offence and as such might have disastrous consequences for a whole society. In no country in the world are people who commit such unlawful acts considered as heroes. In the USA they are treated as common criminals and in China, if they are convicted, they face execution.Because corrupt minds have no heart for their country and its people, they are primarily driven by personal greed and selfishness and a desire to live on the backs of others. No nation can prosper where corrupt practices are tolerated or in some aspects even encouraged.Only criminal or totally ignorant minds can have sympathy for those who steal the people’s money – in fact their own money as well.We as white Namibians are no longer bombarded and insulted with hate speech and blasted for any misfortune on the African continent as was the case in the past 15 years. It is very unfortunate that as far as national reconciliation and nation building are concerned, so much valuable time has been wasted. Therefore, let’s give as much support as possible to our new President, not only in his fight against corruption but also in terms of other inequities in our country.Slavko Filipovic OkahandjaSecondly, they must realise that any form of corruption or money laundering is a criminal offence and as such might have disastrous consequences for a whole society. Therefore, let’s give as much support as possible to our new President, not only in his fight against corruption but also in terms of other inequities in our country.Slavko Filipovic Okahandja
