The Namibian Police have reported a case of a man (69) who died in a suspected suicide at his lodge outside Grootfontein on Wednesday evening.
According to police spokesperson Elifas Kuwinga, the deceased is identified as Daniel Diederick van der Merwe.
“It is alleged that the deceased committed suicide at his farm. It is further alleged that the deceased was alone in his sleeping room.”
Kuwinga said Van der Merwe was discovered by his wife when she arrived from another lodge, where she went for dinner.
When she arrived, her husband was still breathing, said Kuwinga.
“She called the ambulance, which transported the deceased to the Grootfontein Private Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on arrival,” Kuwinga said.
Police investigations continue.
