Great musical talent Pedrito is no more

The passing away of renowned Namibian producer and musician Pedrito came as a shock to Namibian music lovers. News of the producers death spread across the country on Sunday morning as fans took to their Facebook and Twitter pages to express their condolences.

A message from a fan, Mboshono Lungameni read, ‘So Pedrito is really gone? May his Soul rest in peace. The Namibian music industry will never be the same.’It was reported that the producer died at the Katutura Hospital on Sunday morning after a short illness. Pedrito, who’s real name is Peter Gabriel, gained fame in 2005 when he joined Omalaeti Music Productions as a producer. There he produced albums for award winning artists such as Tate Buti and PDK. In 2009, Pedrito started his own music production company called Okaleke Music Productions even though he would continue to assist Omalaeti produce songs. Not only was Pedrito a creative producer he was also a gifted musician who could play a number of instruments including the keyboard, drums, guitar and base guitar. He also contributed to the national road safety awareness campaign with his hit single ‘120km/h’, he also released of an album entitled ‘Okaleke’.Funeral arrangements for the producer are currently underway. A representative of Omalaeti confirmed that the public will be informed of the program later this week.Pedrito who was 36-years-old is survived by his wife and 14 children.
