United Democratic Front (UDF) spokesperson Mabasen //Narib says president Hage Geingob’s death is a great loss to the entire Namibian nation.
“We acknowledge that the passing of president Geingob is not easy for all of us to take,” //Narib said on Sunday.
He said the party recognises that Geingob played a pivotal role in the economic reform of the country.
“He was indeed a giant in the political landscape of Namibia,” //Narib said.
The UDF stands with the family and wishes them strength and comfort, he said.
//Narib said the UDF worked with Geingob in parliament and held his government accountable as an opposition party.
The UDF calls on Namibians to pray and celebrate the president’s memory.
“Let’s celebrate his contribution to freedom. His governance was a period of resilience,” //Narib said.
Geingob was praised for his intervention during the Covid-19 pandemic and on economic recovery afterwards.
//Narib said the UDF and the party’s president, Hendrick Goabaeb, wishes all Namibians strength.
