THE Government flats in Rundu-Tutungeni next to the Government Office Park poses a serious threat to the occupants.
The flats belong to the Ministry of Works and are in a dilapidated state, the building is very old and it is full of cracks in the wall. This is a serious concern to the people living there as the building may collapse at any time in the near future. The Ministry of Works has been reluctant to renovate these flats but they are deducting rent from the occupants – what is the money used for if they cannot renovate the flats? Or else the Government must give the flats over to the Town Council or the Regional Council so that they can renovate them and rent to people in order to generate funds instead of keeping people in a place that may even cause death if the building collapse. The leaders from the Ministry of Works head office like the Permanent Secretary and Directors must go to Rundu and see what we are talking about because our leaders are reluctant to act sometimes. They think we just complain but only when something serious happens do they start running around.Ministry of Works should please do something before it is too late.E Nambara Via e-mailThis is a serious concern to the people living there as the building may collapse at any time in the near future. The Ministry of Works has been reluctant to renovate these flats but they are deducting rent from the occupants – what is the money used for if they cannot renovate the flats?
