Governors Endjala, Nghaamwa recovering well

THE governors of Omusati and Ohangwena are recovering after they fell ill in separate circumstances.

Omusati governor Erginus Endjala collapsed as he delivered his state of the region address at Outapi yesterday, while Usko Nghaamwa of Ohangwena was airlifted to Windhoek for medical attention on Monday.

Endjala told yesterday that while he had returned to the office shortly after the incident, he will be taking time off to rest.

He also said his collapse yesterday morning was caused by a bout of flu that had afflicted him for about a week, and caused him to feel dizzy and weak.

“I need to rest a little. I have been working too hard,” Endjala added.

Omusati Regional Council chairperson Modestus Amutse delivered the governor’s speech after Endjala had fallen ill.

Nghaamwa told from a private hospital in Windhoek that he was recovering after he fell ill during a visit to his farm on Saturday.

“I cannot not say what I feel, or where the pain was. I just felt cold. I slept at the farm, and woke up in the wee hours for some chores. I took a walk around, and then started shivering and feeling very cold,” he explained.

Nghaamwa said the feeling did not last long, and that he continued working until the coldness attacked him again, and he was airlifted to hospital.

Nghaamwa wished Endjala a speedy recovery.
