Gospel Songstress Credits Divine Inspiration

It’s rare in Namibian music circles, but gospel singer Ruth Haosemas has dropped a single, ‘Follow You’, as well as the video for the song on the same day.

“My first two songs were released without a video, so I felt that I needed to connect with people through the music video,” a delighted Ruth says.

Describing herself as a woman of God, she says: “I serve God in truth and spirit. I love singing for God and my music is inspired by the Holy Spirit.”

Soprano Ruth says ‘Follow You’ is a song about following the Lord even if one goes through trials and tribulations – especially during the current times of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The mesmerising song is produced by DJ Kallo on the Beat, who has worked with the award-winning Kalux and Adora.

Says Ruth: “I’m an artist and a writer who is inspired by the Holy Spirit. My gospel music is unique because of the instruments which will touch many young souls, but the message remains the same.”

She also says her team has started with the international promotion of ‘Follow You’ already, and that the song will be played on Trace Gospel Channel.

Ruth says within two years’ time, she plans to travel to different countries to touch souls through music.

She credits her sister, award-winning gospel artist Khwezi Tjivera, and Khwezi’s husband, Fabianus Tjivera, as inspiration, saying they have been her greatest supporters. Ruth is also currently working on a collaboration with Khwezi.

Her first performance was at the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund’s high school choir competition in 2018, were she representated Cornelius Goreseb High School, which won the first prize.

She was also a member of Outjo High School’s choir and the Okahandja Youth Choir.

The eye-catching video for ‘Follow You’ was shot during the Easter holiday by Eric Mule at Avis Dam in Windhoek.

Within three days of being uploaded on YouTube, the video has clocked up more than 1 000 views.
