Good Will Triumph In The Garden Town

Good Will Triumph In The Garden Town

WOULD you allow me a space in your newspaper because for once in my life I would also like to tell what I have seen as it is.

I am so embarrassed by the manner in which Swapo comrades of Okahandja are behaving. We are supposed to be working together but instead we are alienated or should I say on bad terms. As a member of the Youth League of Okahandja, I would advise my seniors to start behaving like adults and exemplify a better example to us as the youth. Some of our new councillors are being accused of seeing witchdoctors in order to be elected; or accused of not knowing how to speak English and/or that they have criminal records. The people behind these accusations are none other than the Swapo ex-councillors, some of the municipal workers and even regional councillors. Some workers at the Municipality threatened to leave their jobs in case the newly elected Mayor took the post. These things make one speculate what these people are afraid of.Is it because the mayor is impartial and that many things that used to happen in the Municipality are now going to end? The community in their presence elected these councillors, and they never objected, but when they saw that the elections were over, and Swapo won, that’s when they started with their condemnation of the councillors. Why didn’t they act before everything was complete? Is it maybe because they thought Swapo would lose? Which parties do they really belong to? They hold private meetings in their houses and not at the Swapo offices like they used to.All they are trying to do is bring perplexity and division among the residents. The examples that we are seeing from these leaders in Okahandja is so repulsive.People from other parties are starting to ask questions. As a member of Swapo youth I would like these people to stop these actions.Let the new councillors continue with their job and maybe we will never have to hear about our councillors drinking and fighting on the streets as some of their predecessors used to do.The endless fight between the Town Clerk and the Town Treasurer must also stop.We want equal opportunities in our town and not only the relatives or the councillors must get employment especially within the Municipality itself. We want changes in our town and the new crew is going to do this. The councillors are optimists and we believe that the good will prevail over evil in our Garden Town.TK OkahandjaWe are supposed to be working together but instead we are alienated or should I say on bad terms.
