Good Service Noted

RECENTLY, I had the pleasure of having wonderful service from the Namibian Police here in Windhoek, and I realised that there may be many similar incidents of this nature never written about because the individuals involved may not take the trouble to say so.

That leads to a one-sided reflection of our government institutions, because ‘good news does not normally make it to the front page,’ right? In this instance, Mr Basson from the Criminal Records Department (in Faraday Street) was the one who went through a lot of trouble in a very friendly manner to assist with a clearance document. I have never met him, he is not a personal friend, we don’t share a friend or acquaintance that I know of, and his monthly salary was not directly dependent on my positive feedback. He was friendly, courteous, professional, and went out of his way for me, someone whom he does not owe anything in life. That was a wonderful experience, and I hope his customer service is recognised and rewarded by his superiors.Often, it is the customer’s approach to someone delivering a service that can make a difference. If you have been on your feet all day, are tired, and you are faced with an impatient and rude customer, it is difficult to remain friendly. So we as customers must also approach those delivering a service to us with respect and friendliness. It may make all the difference in the world.Respect for others is after all one of the most important values to encourage in our society.Christine WindhoekI have never met him, he is not a personal friend, we don’t share a friend or acquaintance that I know of, and his monthly salary was not directly dependent on my positive feedback. It may make all the difference in the world.Respect for others is after all one of the most important values to encourage in our society.
