Gondwana Set to Open Luna Collection

In ancient civilisations, long before Latin scholars named the moon ‘Luna’, early astronomers spoke of a phenomenon they called ‘Noctis Oculus’ – the ‘Night’s Eye’.

They believed the moon was not merely a celestial body, but a watchful presence that opened each night to observe the earth in its quietest, most honest state. According to their lore, anyone who slept beneath the Night’s Eye would awaken with heightened clarity – a renewal of intuition, calm, and inner stillness.

It is this forgotten legend of Noctis Oculus – the moon as the world’s great revealer – that inspires Gondwana Collection Namibia’s newest creation, the Luna Collection, set to open in July 2026.

To be located in the vast stillness of the Namib Desert, just off the C27 and 70km south of Sesriem, the Luna Collection will rise from a landscape worthy of such ancient celestial reverence.

Here, where camelthorn trees stand like timekeepers and the Namib Sand Sea shifts in slow golden breaths, the desert becomes a natural amphitheatre for moonlight.

With three luxury units set to open in July and two others later in the year, each standalone unit will be designed as part of a lunar-guided journey.

Just as early stargazers once believed the moon revealed the world’s hidden truths, Luna will guide guests through their own cycle of quiet renewal – waxing with exploration, waning into stillness, and settling into deep rest beneath one of the darkest skies on earth.

Travellers will experience fully inclusive luxury, with each suite offering its own dedicated concierge team, a private host, guide, and personal chef who will curate every moment to the guest’s rhythm.

Whether it’s a moonrise dinner among ancient dunes, a silent sunrise walk over ochre ridges, or an evening spent under the Night’s Eye itself, the journey will be entirely personal.

To offer a glimpse of what awaits, Gondwana has released artificial intelligence-assisted placeholder mock-ups showcasing the envisioned atmosphere and design direction.

These images serve as artistic impressions only and may differ from the final build.

With its rare blend of solitude, spirituality, and curated luxury, the Luna Collection is set to become one of Namibia’s most anticipated openings – a place where ancient celestial myth and modern desert architecture finally meet.
