GOJU Ryu Karate Namibia will host an international event to celebrate its 30th anniversary on Saturday, August 8.
The event, sponsored by Bank Windhoek, takes place at the International Hall at the Windhoek Showgrounds,The organisers attracted 246 contestants, of whom 116 are from South Africa. Other countries that will be represented are England, Belgium and Sweden. The contestants range from six-year-olds to 65-year-olds. The skills levels range from white to black belts, and a total of 65 officials will be officiating during the tournament. ‘When one looks at the values which are the basis of the Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate martial art, Bank Windhoek can identify with them. The sport is built on respect, loyalty, honesty, integrity and a host of other values. Since its establishment in 1979, the IOGKF has attracted culturally diverse martial arts practitioners from around the world. Training at their own pace, each IOGKF member improves their mind, body and spirit.The 30th anniversary tournament on August 8 starts at 09h00 and is open to everyone.
