“Congratulations, Ms Goagoses, as you take your seat among the global greats, a proud nation stands tall right besides you,” the statement says.
Responding to an enquiry by The Namibian Sport, Netball Namibia issued a statement congratulating Goagoses on her appointment.
“Netball Namibia is delighted to congratulate former president Goagoses on her appointment as a full member of the World Netball Board, where she will serve out the remaining tenure of the previous Africa representative on the global body.
“This appointment is a proud and historic moment for Netball Namibia and for Namibian sport as a whole. Goagoses’ elevation to the highest governance level of world netball reflects not only her personal calibre as a leader but also the strength of the foundations she helped build during her time at the helm of our Federation.”
Goagoses served as NN president from 2022 to 2024, and was widely credited for turning around the fortunes of local netball, strengthening structures, growing sponsorship, and improving the visibility of the sport nationally.
“Her leadership did not go unnoticed beyond our borders. She went on to serve Africa Netball as vice president for development before being appointed acting president of Africa Netball in 2025.”
The statement adds that at Netball Africa she “continued to champion digital reporting tools, financial sustainability, and stronger representation of African federations on the global stage”.
“Her ascension to the World Netball Board is therefore a natural and well-earned progression, and a powerful testament to what disciplined, values-driven leadership can achieve.”
The new position also carries special significance for Netball Namibia, “as it places a daughter of our federation at the table where decisions affecting the future of the sport worldwide are made”.
Netball Namibia is further confident that will continue to “serve with the same diligence, integrity, and passion for development that defined her years with us, and that she will be a strong voice for Africa, and for Namibia in particular, on the world stage”, the statement stresses.
