A girl (5) died in a road accident at Otjiwarongo on Friday in which 16 occupants sustained serious injuries.
According to police spokesperson Elifas Kuwinga, the accident occurred at around 16h30, approximately 67km from Otavi towards Otjiwarongo’s main road.
Kuwinga said the 16 occupants, including a bus driver, were transported to the Otjiwarongo State Hospital for medical treatment.
The deceased was transported to Otjiwarongo police mortuary.
Kuwinga said the driver of the bus allegedly lost control of the vehicle after the right rear tyre burst and the bus overturned.
He added that the vehicle was travelling from the north to the southern direction.
Police investigations continue.
