• SHANTE MAHALIETHE Government Institutions Pension Fund (GIPF) aims to educate its members in rural areas countrywide on the benefits and services of the fund.
Members in the Omaheke region are currently the fund’s main target.
The fund wants to ensure that all its members gain the necessary knowledge on the fund to benefit optimally.
Amos Kambonde, the manager and marketing service officer of the GIPF, yesterday said the fund’s main goal is to enhance member education.
“This week they are working in the Omaheke region to reach all members,” he said.
The region is one of the most sparsely populated in the country, which means members find it challenging to access GIPF services.
Kambonde said the fund is making use of platforms such as radio and social media to reach members.
They are also hosting face-to-face presentations on the fund’s services, he said.
This provides members the opportunity to ask questions, and engages staff members on issues.
“It is important for people to understand our benefits and services,” Kambonde said.
In February this year, the GIPF launched ‘Pension on Wheels’, offering information.
The GIPF team will be visiting the Otjinene, Eiseb, Gam, Epukiro, Otjombinde and Animuis constituencies between 11 and 20 October.
The team will be stationed at various schools, clinics, veterinary services, ministerial offices and police stations.
