Getting With The Info Age

Getting With The Info Age

AFTER looking through many modern textbooks particularly for schools in Namibia, I noted that most of the materials that are produced in English nowadays make references to websites for additional information, which is good for learners and teachers to expand their knowledge.

I also looked at some textbooks in indigenous languages in Namibia and have realised that they are not written in the same way as the English ones. I have not seen any reference made to Internet or websites and this implies that African language authors need to look into this matter so that they produce books which are on par with other books. It does not mean that all books should have references to Internet but at least most of them should.Internet is the way forward and there is no point to doubt or wait in order to produce materials which are appropriate for this information age.Natasha N Angula WindhoekI have not seen any reference made to Internet or websites and this implies that African language authors need to look into this matter so that they produce books which are on par with other books. It does not mean that all books should have references to Internet but at least most of them should.Internet is the way forward and there is no point to doubt or wait in order to produce materials which are appropriate for this information age.Natasha N Angula Windhoek
