The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare is seeking public assistance in locating a child suspected to be drinking a traditional brew known as otombo in a viral video.
The ministry on Tuesday raised concerns about possible child neglect and endangerment, calling on the public to help identify the child so that it can intervene and ensure her safety.
“In such cases, the Child Care and Protection Act requires that the best interests of the child guide all actions, including urgent steps to identify and reach the child where there is exposure to alcohol and possible neglect,” ministry spokesperson Cecilia Iyambo said.
