Geingob remembrance day: Public invited to Heroes Acre

The Office of the President will host a ceremony at Heroes Acre where Namibians can honour late president Hage Geingob.

Geingob died last year on 4 February after a short battle with cancer.

Press secretary Alfredo Hengari confirmed that ceremonies will be held at Heroes Acre and State House as well as a public remembrance on Tuesday, 4 February.

“The public is invited to pay homage to the memory of president Hage Geingob at Heroes Acre. Gates will remain open for the public from 12h00 to 16h00,” Hengari says.

President Nangolo Mbumba and president-elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will lay wreaths at Heroes Acre.

“For the second part of the programme, which will take place at the presidency, the president, the president-elect, family members and senior government officials will proceed to the presidency for part two of the proceedings where the president will deliver commemorative remarks to the Namibian nation,” he says.
