President Hage Geingob is in a critical but stable condition in hospital.
This was confirmed by Presidency press secretary Alfredo Hengari on Saturday evening.
“I do confirm,” Hengari told The Namibian.
State media house New Era reported that Geingob was admitted to an intensive care unit after returning from the United States of America, where he had undergone cancer treatment.
The president returned to Namibia on Wednesday after a two-day trial treatment in the US for the cancerous cells he was diagnosed with during January.
Geingob underwent treatment with scientists and medical professionals in Los Angeles.
He is currently in a private Windhoek hospital.
The president’s medical team has observed some signs of improvement since his return to the country.
