GBV unit investigates child-abuse video

THE Namibian Police’s gender-based violence unit is investigating a case of child abuse, following a video circulating on social media in which a man is seen assaulting a child with a belt.

National police spokesperson deputy commissioner Kauna Shikwambi this evening confirmed the investigation and said the child was taken to hospital.

The child was removed from the guardian’s house and taken to a place of safety with the guidance of a social worker, pending investigations.
